BONNIE SEEMAN

My
Inspiration

I used Bonnie Seeman as inspiration for my teapot. Her intricate ceramic pieces create botanical feeling as well as anatomical tensions which can be seen as an exploration of human fragility and nature alike. Using porcelain, Bonnies pieces form teacups which blossom into veined, organ-like textures. Creating both fascination as well as a looming feeling of discomfort. Her work helps to challenge the viewer with beauty as well as vulnerability. Creating a sense of the delicate balance between life and decay. Her pieces serve as an exploration of life's delicacy and the natural bodily coexistence of life and death. Seeman's work seeks to challenge traditional associations of craft by showing complex systems. Her art inviters viewers to witness the body and nature not

as separate feelings, but as deeply interconnected systems. Both fragile and resilient.
